Date: 12 – 19 November 2023

Inter Faith Week is upon us, offering an invaluable opportunity to delve into the intricate tapestry of beliefs and cultures that thread together our society. As we approach this event, we are reminded of its significance, especially in today’s complex world. Highlighting this, AWAZ Cumbria in collaboration with the Westmorland and Furnes Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Partnership (WFDEIP) have organized an enlightening event that promises to be both educational and insightful.

Event Details:

  • Date: Wednesday, 15th November
  • Time: 10.30am – 1pm
  • Venue: Quaker Friends Meeting House, Stramongate, Kendal, Cumbria LA9 4BH

Speakers and Topics of Discussion:

Mike Humphreys – As the Chair of SLIF South Lakeland Interfaith Forum and an Elder of the Kendal Branch of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Mike brings a wealth of knowledge to the table. His discourse titled ‘Religious Freedom’ promises to touch upon the essence of spiritual liberty, a subject relevant in today’s context.

Douglas Rathbone – Serving as a Congregational Church lay minister, United Reformed Church lay preacher, and former Mayor of Kendal, Douglas wears many hats. His historical exploration titled ‘Faith in Public Life in Kendal in the 1600s’ will shed light on Kendal’s faith journey in a bygone era, providing a historical lens through which we can view today’s religious landscape.

Both talks promise to provide an illuminating view into the theme of the week, “Religion, Belief, and Culture in our Community; Cumbrian supplement (2nd edition)”.
