The Walking Festival offers an opportunity to explore Kendal and the peaceful landscapes that surround it. Regardless of your walking capabilities, the festival offers something for everyone.
What makes Kendal a festival town, with a packed calendar of events? Maybe it’s our passion for celebrating what we love and welcoming the world to enjoy it with us. From the very best of local food and drink to internationally renowned arts and comedy, outdoor adventure to traditional craft and rural traditions… events and festivals are a great way to experience the very best of Kendal’s unique culture.
25 - 27 May

Country Fest in June offers something for everyone.

Kendal Pride returns for the second year.

Cumbria unity festival is a family event that is fun and also has an important message, aiming to advance equality and celebrate diversity.

1 - 4 August
Kendal Calling is an award-winning music festival founded in Kendal and grown into one of the most spectacular festival settings in the world. Sadly, it’s no longer held in the town but it carries our name and we’re still very attached to it.
11 - 12 September
Westmorland County Show - a must-visit, attracting over 37,000 visitors annually. With livestock showcases, show jumping, interactive displays, crafty creations, and delicious artisan treats,
28 September
Kendal Torchlight Carnival takes place every September, with a family friendly street party and procession.
4 - 5 October
Kendal Music Festival was held for the first time in October 2023 with 100 acts across town. Brought to you by Kendal BID.
21 - 24 November
Taking place each November, the ultimate social gathering for outdoor enthusiasts – with a world-class programme of films and talks from international adventurers.

Christmas Light Switch On is a chance to watch our town come to life with festive cheer.
1 December
Kendal Business Improvement District (BID) is bringing festive cheer to the town with a Christmas Celebration. The fun will take place in Kendal Market Place and Finkle Street on Saturday 1 December. The festive event will host around 20 Christmas stalls, providing an assortment of gifts, crafts, food, and drink.
6 - 7 December
Cumbria's finest Whisky festival takes place every December here in Kendal.
