This business toolkit has been created to provide tools and guidance to help you positively promote your business and join the Visit Kendal destination campaign! Below you will find a selection of useful marketing assets and guidelines.

We welcome the use of the Kendal branding, logos, icons and imagery to help promote our town. Feel free to use it on your own promotional materials, websites and in social media, along with links to visit-kendal.co.uk.
The branding is not intended to be used for commercial purposes, such as on goods for sale. If you would like to use the branding on products or materials for sale, please contact us with details of your proposal and examples of your proposed products. Kendal Futures will consider your request and if approved, may ask for a percentage of the profits to be used to support future promotional activities for the town. Business Directories & What’s On Calendar
The Visit Kendal website along with the Explore South Lakeland website contain three useful directories to help visitors find businesses, events and offers in Kendal. If you would like to be included in these directories, download our ‘how to’ guides below to discover how to get started:
To promote your event further, send us an email describing your event along with a photograph and we will consider highlighting your event on the ‘What’s On’ section of the Visit Kendal homepage.
Download our logo to use on your website and digital media. We recommend reading our Brand Guidelines before using the logo. Don’t forget to link the logo back to the visit-kendal.co.uk website so your audience can see the many great things Kendal has to offer.
You can see an example of how our logo can be used here, scroll down to the website footer, clicking this Kendal logo will take you to the Visit Kendal website. Alternatively, you could include the Kendal logo and link in the top banner of your website or on a page on your website describing the Kendal area such as an About Us page.

Social Media Wall
On the homepage of the Visit Kendal website we have a dynamic social media wall. This area of the website allows us to showcase what is happening around our town each and every day. We would love to showcase your business in this area and in order to be featured, all you need to do is tag your content on Twitter and Instagram with #Kendal or tag the location as Kendal. We will feature as many posts tagged in this way as possible!
Cumbria Tourism Membership
Cumbria Tourism is a not-for-profit membership organisation, dedicated to promoting tourism across the whole of Cumbria. They are the county’s official Destination Management Organisation and they work to promote Cumbria to the UK and overseas visitors.
There are lots of benefits to becoming a member of Cumbria Tourism and all types of businesses can get involved, from accommodation providers to community organisations. The more Kendal businesses who join, the more the town will benefit from the work Cumbria Tourism do.

‘Google My Business’ Listing
‘Google My Business’ is a platform allowing you to control your business listing in Google. Setting your business up with a ‘Google My Business’ listing will give your business a public identity and presence on Google Search and Google Maps. You can add contact information, business hours, showcase pictures, and interact directly with potential customers. The map shown on the Visit Kendal website is driven by Google, therefore by creating your business listing on Google, your business will also be showcased here on the Visit Kendal map.
Setting up a ‘Google My Business’ listing is free; simply fill out the form on Google My Business. Once you have completed this form, Google will send you a postcard containing a verification code, on receiving your postcard, log back into your Google account and enter the details shown on the postcard. Google provide information about their ‘My Business’ service on this short video.
