What is the Mint Gravel route?
This new challenging and exhilarating 160km/100-mile journey begins and ends in our scenic town of Kendal. A unique loop that takes you along the serene Lancaster Canal, across grassy fells, and past the impressive Armistead and Lambrigg wind farms. Conquer the climb to the radio masts at Whinfell, the route’s highest point, and brace yourself for a thrilling technical descent into Borrowdale.

Experience the raw beauty of Longsleddale, tackle the steep climb from Sadgill, and enjoy the swift descent towards Kentmere. The route then winds towards Windermere, loops around Winster and Crook, and skirts the stunning Whitbarrow, before a triumphant return to Kendal! Where you can enjoy a nourishing meal in one of our eateries and book a place to rest.

This trail is a test of endurance and skill over mixed terrain with roughly 50% off-road. The route will challenge even seasoned riders and the organisers encourage everyone not to hesitate to walk sections that seem daunting – safety and enjoyment are key!
