What is Kendal Unity Festival?
Kendal Unity Festival is an annual event taking place in Kendal Town Centre each summer.
The event forms part of Cumbria Unity Festival and aims to celebrate the strength and diversity of the people of Cumbria by building community cohesion, advancing equality & social integration.
Why do we need the Unity Festival?
As a consequence of events in the past few years, people are more polarised and divided than ever. Fear, confusion, and the feeling of having lost some control over our lives have pulled us apart and made many of us feel isolated.
Bringing people together, fostering acts of solidarity, mutual support and community cohesion can remind us of our true nature. We are a social species and we are at our best when we debate and practice the aspects of unity that make us flourish as a group.
Actively fostering unity is what we need to start healing in our communities. We are fortunate that there are so many effective and imaginative resources in Cumbria which we can call on to promote unity. Among the Cumbria Unity Festival group and partners there’s a wealth of experience both in providing services all year round and in coming together creatively to offer the Cumbria Unity Festival.
