KENDAL CLIMATE CHANGE & ZERO CARBON KENDAL
Kendal was the first town in the UK to host a Citizens Jury on Climate Change and possibly the first in the world to conduct one entirely online. The Jury was made up of Kendal residents who summoned a range of Climate experts to help answer the question 'What should Kendal do about Climate Change?'.

John Cunliffe lived in Kendal and based the Postman Pat books on the former post office at Greenside. The adventures featured nearby Kentmere and Longsleddale.
GEORGE ROMNEY AT ABBOT HALL ART GALLERY
George Romney (1734-1802), the well-known English portrait painter was born at Dalton-in Furness and served his apprenticeship in Kendal. There’s a plaque commemorating his life and work outside Kendal Town Hall. Some of his most well-known works can be seen at Abbot Hall Art Gallery.

Kendal’s most famous woollen cloth was Kendal Green, said to have been worn by the Kendal Bowmen. Shakespeare refers to ‘Kendal-green’ in Henry IV (Part I).

Kendal lies right on the edge of the Lake District, a UNESCO World Heritage site with 16 lakes and over 200 fells. Kendal is the perfect destination from which to explore this beautiful region.
