Each year, Kendal bursts into life with thousands of colourful blooms — and 2025 has been no exception. Kendal Town Council is delighted to continue the much-loved tradition of bringing floral displays to the town centre, transforming streets, planters, and hanging baskets into a vibrant celebration of colour and community.
Throughout the summer and winter months, these displays add beauty and charm to our town, reflecting one of the Council’s key priorities — to develop and enhance Kendal’s public spaces for residents and visitors alike.
As preparations begin for the winter planting, the Council is celebrating another successful summer season that brought so much joy to those who live, work, and visit here.
Councillor Andy Blackman, Chair of Kendal Town Council’s Kendal in Bloom Committee, said:
“The annual planting is more than just decoration – it’s a celebration of community pride. We’re grateful to the partners and volunteers who help us deliver the planting throughout the town and who create wonderful displays of their own. We’d love even more people to get involved — Kendal Town Council offers grants to support planting initiatives, as well as those promoting biodiversity and nature recovery.”
Kendal Town Council is also proud to ensure the displays continue to contribute to the environment long after the blooms have faded. All flowers are composted at the end of each season, and this compost is reused in future planting — meaning every bloom helps the next one grow. The Council now exclusively uses its own compost in all town planting projects.
