KENDAL TOWN

Kendal Town Football Club was founded in 1919 and plays at Parkside Road. The club is nicknamed “The Mintcakes”, a nod to the town’s most famous sweet treat, and is also known as “The Field” or simply “The Town”. Earlier generations of fans knew the club as Netherfield Kendal, and it took its current name in 2000.

The Mintcakes have a proud history. In 2008–09 they finished fifth in the Northern Premier League Premier Division and reached the play-offs for a place in the Conference North. Today they compete in Division One of the Northern League.

A matchday at Parkside Road is non-league football at its best: affordable, friendly and close to the action. It’s a great afternoon out for families, groundhoppers and visitors looking for a taste of local life.

Getting there: Parkside Road is less than a mile walk from Kendal town centre. They also have onsite parking.

HOSPITALITY & DINING

More than just a Football club! The Park at Parkside is a vibrant bar and events venue.

MORE LOCAL FOOTBALL

Kendal’s football scene doesn’t stop at the Mintcakes. Kendal United and Kendal County are both fantastic teams playing in the West Lancashire League, so there’s often more than one game in town on a Saturday. The Westmorland Senior Cup brings cup-tie drama and local rivalries from across the area.

GRASSROOTS & YOUTH FOOTBALL

Football is at the heart of the community here. The Westmorland County Football Association is based in Kendal, and the Kent Valley Junior Football League gives young players across the area the chance to play every week. If you’re visiting with football-mad kids, it’s worth checking for holiday camps and sessions during your stay.
