We are excited to announce a brand new Winter Food & Craft Market will be taking place on the County Showground on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 November 2020.

Created by the organisers of our famous Westmorland County Show, the market is set to be a fantastic festive event with:

  • Artisan Food and Drink
  • Gift Shopping From Local Traders
  • Live Music
  • Festive Entertainment
  • Children’s Activities
  • Seasonal Demonstrations
  • Street Food

Visitors can shop at a myriad of artisan craft and gift stalls, sample artisan food and drink, take in great street food and watch some of the festive demonstrations.  Enjoy the live music and let the children take part in some of the activities.

Tickets

For the protection of everyone at the event, tickets to the Winter Market will be limited and must be booked in advance.

The cost is £6 per vehicle, including vat and can be booked online.

Safety First

With the majority of public gatherings cancelled since March, including Kendal’s own Country Fest and the Westmorland County Show, the organisers are very conscious of the challenging times experienced by the majority of exhibitors who would usually trade at events, both locally and further afield.

In a bid to support these traders, the idea of a Winter Market, held on the vast County Showground, in the outdoors and away from large conurbations, has come to fruition and the team are busy planning this event which is set to take place in just three weeks time.

The team’s main priority remains the health and safety of our volunteers, visitors, traders, contractors, exhibitors and staff.  They are continuing to liaise with South Lakeland District Council regularly as guidelines and restrictions change to ensure the event is as safe as it possibly can be.  The Society and its Showground have been deemed ‘Good to Go’ by Visit England.

With everyone’s safety in mind, stands will be spread out to give more room to walk around.  They have created controlled entry and exit points and the online ticketing will operate a simple track and trace process. QR codes will be operation so the organisers request attendees downloaded the NHS Covid-19 App for easy check in.  The temporary toilets will be cleaned regularly and Society volunteers will be on hand as dedicated Covid marshals to encourage social distancing.

To ensure your and everyone else’s safety the organisers please request:

  • Bring a face covering and as an extra level of protection wear please wear throughout the Showground
  • Observe social distancing
  • Keep within your own social bubble
  • Respect others need for ample space
  • Do not form groups or gatherings around stands or entertainment
  • Use the sanitising stations regularly

The team look forward to welcoming you and begin the festive celebrations!
