Following a successful launch in the North East last year, the innovative high street-boosting app ParkingPerx is coming to Kendal this summer. Merchants will be able to find out more at an exclusive event at 19 The Wine Bar on Thursday 22nd July, 5.30pm. The event will also be streamed as a webinar for those who can’t make it in person.

ParkingPerx is a unique loyalty app which rewards customers with free parking when they spend offline, offering a real boost through the promotion and reward of high street spending. Motivated to drive town centre recovery, the app is designed to reunite shoppers with their favourite retailers, cafes and independent merchants to breathe life back into our local high street.

Chris Reed, founder and Managing Director at ParkingPerx, said: “We all know that the last 15 months have changed the face of our high streets, as lockdown and localised restrictions have placed further pressure on already dwindling consumer numbers across the country. We developed ParkingPerx to help with this issue even before the pandemic and now it’s more important than ever to generate footfall on our high streets.

“We’ve been out and about in Kendal this summer already and the response from local businesses has been really positive. We’re gearing up to launch here at the end of August and so we’re hosting an event where business owners can find out more about how the app can benefit their business, and ask any questions.”

The app registers what’s spent on a card as the customer shops as normal in their town centre, and converts their pounds in to Perx which can be used to pay for parking at the end of their trip, or banked for a future trip. Perx can be earned at any participating businesses including shops, cafés, cinemas, bars and professional services.

Businesses registered with the app control how and when it is used to reward customers to suit their particular trade or customer base, making ParkingPerx a win-win solution.

Not only is the ParkingPerx app backed by the Kendal BID team, it’s also backed by former Dragon from BBC’s Dragon’s Den, Jenny Campbell.

Jenny said: “From the minute I heard about ParkingPerx in the Den, I knew it was a game-changer. The unique app rewards your customers with free parking when they spend in your offline premises.

“And what’s more, you have full control of how the app works for your business and you only pay when customers spend with you. It’s a solution to help our town and city centres, and for that reason, I’m in!”

Reed added:

“For the next 25 businesses to sign up pre-launch, we will top up their account with £100 of credit. That’s the first £100 of customer rewards covered by us! So you can try the solution with no risk and no commitment.”
