In the second of our Light Nights blog series we head to Kendal’s Sticklandgate area.

Stricklandgate meets Highgate in the centre of Kendal and runs north in the direction towards Windermere. In this blog post we explore the bars, restaurants and pubs you can find on Stricklandgate and the adjoining streets; Burneside Road, Sandes Avenue and Wainwright’s Yard.

Itinerary idea: After a spot of  shopping in Wainwright’s Yard, enjoy a relaxing summer walk around Nobles Rest park, which is situated just behind Stricklandgate, before catching evening refreshments in this bustling area of town.

Eateries

If you’re looking for fun sharing food, head to Pedro’s Casa, where you can grab a sombrero and enjoy delicious Mexican sharing plates! And to really make the most of the warm summer evenings, Pedro’s are serving up frozen cocktails throughout the season.

For a modern bistro experience, neighbouring Pedro’s, you will find Bistro Deja-Vu, a cosy restaurant open seven days a week and a firm favourite with the locals.

If you prefer a casual catch up with friends over a classical pub menu, then head to the Wakefield Arms, part of the Table Table group and a spacious establishment with a family friendly atmosphere.

More great eateries can be found in Wainwright’s Yard – including Kendal’s branch of Pizza Express, a bright and airy place to enjoy the popular chain’s summer promotions and Slate Bar, which serves light charcuterie.
