As huge advocates of the benefits of exercise on our mental health, Jogging Pals operate jogging programmes designed to encourage people into activity, and then maintain it. They have couch to 5k programmes for people in Kendal, Ulverston, Carnforth, and National Trust Fell Foot (near Newby Bridge) and are part of the RunTogether programme by England Athletics.
Jogging Pals are working with partners (Plain Creative, New Union Kendal, Pete Bland Sports, Better Kendal Leisure Centre and Voom Nutrition) to revive a series of family friendly fun runs to Kendal.
It’s one run each month from April to August, with the distances as follows:
- Monday 27 April – 5.1k (3.2 miles)
- Monday 25 May – 6.1k (3.8 miles)
- Monday 29 June – 7.7k (4.8 miles)
- Monday 27 July – 6.1k (3.8 miles)
- Monday 24 August – 5.1k (3.2 miles)
Timing will be provided, but the events are non-competitive fun runs and there are no prizes for coming first or last – it’s just about taking part and enjoying the event.
Participants can enter for all five runs in the series. Upon completion of all five, runners will receive a unique commemorative and locally made token.
