Have you visited our much-loved Farmers’ Market? It runs in our Market Place on the last Friday of every month.
This week we’re shining the spotlight on Heartwood Poultry – a small family run hill farm consisting of 105 acres of land.
Owner, David Knipe is one of the founder members of the Kendal Farmers’ Market and has been selling his goods for years to a loyal following in Kendal and across Cumbria.
At Heartwood Poultry the family farm Free Range Chickens, Ducks and Turkeys. Alongside Rough Fell and Swaledale Sheep and winter Ayrshire Cattle.
All of their Chickens, Ducks, Turkeys and Geese are reared Free Range roaming under the shadow of the heartwood, they are free to wander during day light hours. The birds are slowly reared on a pure vegetative ration which enhances the taste and the texture. The family at Heartwood Poultry pride themselves on the low food miles with their birds are measured in a matter of meters as the team process onsite.
You can find Heartwood Poultry at Kendal Farmers Market (9am-3pm) on the last Friday of the month.
You can keep up to date with Heartwood Poultry on their website.
