South Lakeland District Council (SLDC) is offering free car parking on its pay and display car parks and the Westmorland Shopping Centre Car Park on Sundays in December in the run up to Christmas.
The free Sunday parking offer will apply on the following dates:
Sunday, 1 December 2019
Sunday, 8 December 2019
Sunday, 15 December 2019
Sunday, 22 December 2019
The offer applies to all pay and display car parks and the Westmorland Shopping Centre Car Park operated by SLDC in the district, with the specific exceptions of the Brewery Arts Centre pay and display car park in Kendal and Miller Bridge car park at Ambleside.
No contract permit-holder only car parks are included in the offer.
The following SLDC-operated car parks will be subject to the free Sunday December parking offer:

- Booths supermarket
- Dowkers Lane
- Highgate (Bowman)
- Parish Church
- Library Road
- Peppercorn Lane
- Kendal Museum
- Kendal College
- Sandes Avenue
- South Lakeland House
- Westmorland Shopping Centre
Councillor Robin Ashcroft, SLDC Portfolio Holder for Economy and Leisure, said: “We are committed to helping our towns and villages to thrive commercially and once again we are making this free Sunday parking offer to help support our high streets and shoppers at one of the busiest times of the year.
“There is so much to celebrate in our town and village centres and there are some wonderful, diverse and unique shops to explore. Hopefully this initiative will encourage more people to shop local this Christmas.’’
