Afirst and passionate orchestral concert!
Stravinsky’s Firebird Suite is a stunning piece of music that can get under your skin and worm it’s way into your affections, and a live performance such as this is not to be missed! Verdi’s La Forza del Destino (the force of destiny) is not his most well known opera – but perhaps one of his best and the overture reflects this. The second half of the concert will be taken up with a performance of Shostakovich’s 5th symphony. It’s premiere was greeted with a half hour standing ovation. It is a hugely emotional work for which conductor Melvin Tay will make sure he gets the best out of the players!
