Tour of Britain comes to Kendal
We are excited to host the tour of the OVO Energy Tour of Britain and excitement is building for stage four of the race, which will finish in the historic market town of Kendal.
Cumbria has witnessed some of the most exciting stages of Britain’s premier road cycling race in recent years and we look forward to more brilliant action.
The county has spectacular landscape and scenery, and we’re delighted the Tour of Britain will be passing through several western Yorkshire Dales communities in Cumbria for the first time, with some of the world’s top professional cyclists racing through Brough, Kirkby Stephen, Sedbergh and Kirkby Lonsdale.
The stage will finish with a challenging climb up Beast Banks in Kendal, scene of a dramatic finish witnessed by around 10,000 spectators when the Tour of Britain last came to the town in 2016.
Kendal is home to a fabulous collection of galleries, museums and art centres, and you’ll find everything from adventurous activities to leisurely strolls in the town that offers a Gateway to the Lakes.
Cumbria County Council is the main sponsor and co-host of stage four and, together with their partners South Lakeland District Council, Eden District Council and Yorkshire Dales National Park, are looking forward to another day of top class racing.
Cumbria really is the place to be for the Tour of Britain!
