About

In celebration of the anniversary of Lady Anne Clifford’s death in 1676 and Oak Apple Day, Kendal Community Theatre and ‘The Clifford Consort’ present two Festival weekends.
On the morning of Saturday 30th May, starting at 10.am, Lady Anne Clifford 350 will see a festival procession around Kendal: street theatre, music and dancing, headlining our guest professionals from London, The Interlopers, led by Benedict Taylor, born and bred in Kendal.
The procession will stop for performances at five points in town, including Waterside and Stramongate. Music will be specially adapted by Tim Paton of Kendal Concert Band and there will be grand finale in the Market Place.
On Sunday May 31st there will be a procession in Appleby starting at 3pm, from Lady Anne’s Almshouses down to the Colonnades, ending with Festival Evensong in St Lawrence Church where Lady Anne and her mother are buried.

Saturday 6th June, 5.30 for 6pm, at Abbot Hall, Kendal, ‘The Clifford Consort’ and Kendal Community Theatre will present ‘Lady Anne Clifford – A Picture in Music and Words’ with historical music played on period instruments by Philip Gruar, Andrew Fowler, Richard MacKenzie & Elizabeth Dodd, and scenes from Caroline Moir’s play Lady Anne Clifford – a Woman Cast Out, first performed in 2013, featuring Eleanor Brook, actor, also born and bred in Kendal.
