Festival of the Lake is coming to Windermere Jetty Museum on Saturday 27 June 2026 for a full day celebrating Windermere, its rich boating heritage and the many ways people continue to connect with England’s largest lake.
Set on the shores of Windermere, this family-friendly festival will feature heritage boats, live music, short talks, family activities and on-the-water experiences across the museum’s lakeside site.
Visitors can enjoy a wide range of activities from ornithologist-led heritage boat trips aboard 1902 steamboat Osprey, sailing experiences on Swallow which is one of the beautifully restored dinghies featured in the 2016 film adaptation of Swallows and Amazons, to paddleboarding, canoeing and pre-bookable lakeside sauna sessions with Tarn Saunas.
Throughout the day, there will also be live performances from local musicians, collection-inspired talks, wildlife-themed family activities and opportunities to explore local crafts, food and community stalls in a relaxed lakeside setting.
Whether you’re interested in local heritage, spending time on the water or simply enjoying a day out in the Lake District with family and friends, Festival of the Lake offers something for all ages.
Festival entry is £6 for adults, £3 for children (5–15 years), £4.50 for students and family tickets are available from £10. Lakeland Arts Members and Windermere Jetty Museum Annual Pass holders go free. Please note that some activities may incur an additional cost.
