Looking for half term trips and activities to do with your children? We’ve got you covered here in Kendal! There’s plenty to do to keep your family entertained whatever the weather, with actives both inside and out. The half term holidays are the perfect time to enjoy the spectacular autumn colours around us, take your family for a walk down the banks of the River Kent or enjoy one of Kendal’s great parks. Head into the town centre for refreshments at one of our family friendly cafes and browse the latest seasonal offerings in our wonderful shopping centres. Don’t despair if the weather doesn’t play fair – Kendal library is full of vibrant children’s book to entertain your little ones and we have fantastic facilities for swimming with kids of all ages at Kendal Leisure Centre. If you’re looking to challenge your children further, why not give our amazing Climbing Wall a try? Wednesday 24th October |11am – 4pm | Westmorland Shopping Centre | Free
This October half term keep your little ones entertained and visit Westmorland Shopping Centre, Kendal for a free Gruesome Halloween Kids’ Club!
On Wednesday 24th October from 11am – 4pm there will be free Halloween themed activities from ghoulish games and treasure hunts, to gooey slime making and spooky treasure hunts. To find out more visit the Westmorland Shopping Centre website or Facebook page.
Tuesday 23rd, Wednesday 24th and Thursday 25th October | £25 per day | Brewery Arts Centre
On the lead up to Halloween explore the dark underworld of the Brewery Arts Centre. Investigate both real and imagined stories of the ghosts and ghouls that roam the building through physical theatre and movement.
Tuesday 24th October | 10-3pm | £25 | 7-11 yrs
Join illustrator Jenny Daymond for a fun day of art and design and create your favourite jungle animal.
Learn great tips to bring your illustrated character to life using mix media drawing and printing techniques. An opportunity to explore pattern, shape and textures and take home a professionally printed notebook to show to all your friends.

Perfect for a rainy day – get crafty with paint and pottery at Pandemonium Pots in Blackhall Yard. Choose your favourite piece of pottery and get creative with vibrant paints. Your piece will be professionally glazed for you to take home.
20th – 27th October | all day | Museum of Lakeland Life
Create your own comic strip story of your life. This is a free self-led activity as part of the national Big Draw festival.
£20 for half day or £30 for full day | Monday 22nd – Friday 26th October
Learn lots of new skills at How Sew with fun materials. They will be running two different workshops each day, so your child can enjoy a full day of creative fun.

Indoor climbing with a difference at Kendal Climbing Wall. Experience CrazyClimb – a fun and wacky way to climb and get on the wall without the need for any tying of ropes or learning how to use complicated safety devices. The TruBlue auto belay systems will get you safely up the wall and lower you softly to the ground, so all you have to do is concentrate on climbing! Kendal CrazyClimb sessions will run throughout the half term week and can be booked online.

Join paper artist Ellie Chaney to make a large shadow puppet of your favourite Halloween character before performing with these puppets behind a shadow screen. The performance will be filmed to create your very own shadow puppet film.
